CAF Confederation Cup

Result: Mounana 3-5 SuperSport United

Date: 23 May 2017

Venue: Stade D' Angondje

SuperSport United put in a fine display, as they recorded a 5-3 win over CF Mounana in a CAF Confederation Cup group stage clash.

The visitors got off to a good start and they took the lead after five minutes when defender Grant Kekana drilled the ball home from close range, after Mounana failed to clear a corner.

Reyaad Pieterse saw a bit of action after 15 minutes, but the SuperSport shot-stopper was well positioned to deal with two efforts from distance.

Mounana pushed for an equaliser and they were eventually rewarded in the 26th minute when Atchabao sneaked ahead of Tefu Mashamaite and poked home from six-yards out.

However, SuperSport restored their lead in the 34th minute when Thabo Mnyamane fired home from close range after his initial effort was saved, following a fine solo run.

Mnyamane then got his second and SuperSport's third five minutes before the break with a powerful volley from 12-yards out.

The visitors opted for a double change at the start of the second half, as Morgan Gould and Jeremy Brockie replaced Mashamaite and Bradley Grobler.

Mounana were awarded a penalty five minutes into the second half when Clayton Daniels was adjudged to have handled in the box. However, Pieterse guessed the right way and save the spot-kick.

SuperSport then went on to grab a fourth goal in the 63rd minute when Fagrie Lakay surged down the right before picking out Brockie for the simple tap-in.

Lakay nearly added his name on the score-sheet after 73 minutes. The striker shrugged off a challenge before dragging his effort inches wide of the upright.

Mounana were awarded another penalty seven minutes later. Pieterse saved the initially strike, but was unable to stop the rebound, 2-4.

The home side did pull another goal back in stoppage time through as Autchanga rifled into the top corner. However, Brockie sealed the win for SuperSport a minute later with a clinical finish follwing a fine run from Mnyamane.

Here's how they lined up:

SuperSport: Pieterse, Kekana, Daniels, Mashamaite (Gould 46'), Ritchie, Morton, Modiba, Phala, Mnyamane, Grobler (Brockie 46'), Lakay.
