Orlando Pirates progressed into the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup, after they defeated CF Mounana 3-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Kermit Erasmus.

After a slow start to the half, Pirates started seeing more of the ball after 10 minutes and nearly went ahead in the 11th minute but Erasmus' close range strike was turned away by Bitseki.

The hosts squandered another chance three minutes. as Erasmus picked out Thabo Matlaba on the edge of the area but the defender side-footed over from close range.

Pirates eventually broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute when Thamsanqa Gabuza and Sifiso Myeni combined well, before the latter teed up Erasmus to tap into an empty net.

The lead was doubled four minutes later, as Erasmus latched onto a fine pass from Myeni, before rounding Bitseki to slot into an empty net.

Eric Tinkler's side were full value for the lead at the break, as the likes of Erasmus, Myeni and Gabuza all impressed in the attack. While the visitors failed to register a single effort on target in the first half.

Substitute Lehlohonolo Majoro nearly got his name on the score-sheet in the 70th minute but his attempted lob from 20-yards was brilliantly tipped over by Bitseki.

The visitors were chasing shadows for most of the 90 minutes and only managed one effort on target, which Brighton Mhlongo managed to gather with ease.
