Ajax Cape Town look set to qualify for next year's CAF Confederation Cup due to their Nedbank Cup heroics, however their fate lies in Mamelodi Sundowns' hands.
South Africa currently gets four CAF spots, two in the Champions League and two in the Confederation Cup. The teams that finish first and second in the Absa Premiership take the CCL spots, while third place and the winner of the Nedbank Cup go to the CCC.
With Sundowns on track to finish in the top three (they need one more point to do so), Ajax will qualify for the CCC even if they don't manage to win the Nedbank Cup due to Masandawana's qualification through their league campaign.
Should the Urban Warriors manage to qualify for the CCC it will be the first time since 2009 that they have qualified for continental competition, a year when they were knocked out in the first round of the CCL by Zimbabwe's Monomotapa United.
Ajax participated in the CCC one previous occasion, in 2008, however were knocked out early by Mount Cameroon FC.

After saving them from relegation last season, Roger de Sa needs his side to pick up just one point to guarantee a top eight finish this season, a remarkable achievement with a team that has an average age of just over 24.
