With Mamelodi Sundowns set to take on Zesco United in the CAF Champions League today, we take a look at the Brazilians' all-time record in Africa's premier competition.
For the most part, Sundowns have found it difficult to make an impact in Africa, failing to reach the group stages of the competition on six of the nine occasions they were participants in the tournament. However, they managed to reach the final in 2001, falling just short of lifting the trophy when they lost out to Egyptian giants, Al Ahly. However, in their first-leg semi-final against Zesco United today, they could take a step in the right direction to matching that team of 2001 and progressing to the continental competition's final.
