Mamelodi Sundowns Face A Trip To Uganda Or Angola

Reigning champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, face either a trip to Uganda or Angola as they look to land themselves a spot in the 2017 CAF Champions League group stages. Read: Downs Wits In The CAFCL The draw for the 2017 edition of the competition was announced yesterday and while Downs – who are defending their title – have received a bye through the preliminary rounds, will still have to win one tie in order to reach the groups. Ugandan champions, KCCA, will play at home first against Club D. 1e Agosto – the champions of Angola – in early February on the weekend of the 10th, with the return leg taking place one week later in Luanda. Both KCCA, from Kampala, as well as 1e de Agosto are taking place in the CCL for the first time since 2014, and whoever makes it into the first round will be eager to take a major scalp by knocking out last year's winners. Sundowns' first game will take place on the weekend of March 10th, with Masandawana playing at home first and then the away leg one week later on the weekend of the 17th.
