Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns are guaranteed some big money for reaching the CAF Champions League quarterfinals, but they will make much more should they progress to the final of the competition. Have a look at the prize money breakdown.

Amakhosi, who were campaigning in the group stages of the competition for the first time in their history, put up one of their bravest performances under coach Gavin Hunt to book a spot in the last eight.

The Soweto giants twice came from behind to register a 2-2 draw away from home against Horoya, progressing to the next round of the competition on head-to-head results.

Sundowns lost 2-0 in their final group game at home to CR Belouizdad, but cruised to last eight with dominant displays throughout the round-robin campaign.

For reaching the quarterfinals, Chiefs and Sundowns are guaranteed $650 000 (R9.5 million).

Here's a breakdown of the amount of money Chiefs and Sundowns will make should they progress to the semifinals:

Semifinalists: $875 000 (R12.8 million)

Runners-up: $1.25 million (R18.3 million)

Champions: $2.5 million (R36.6 million)
