Result: Bantwana 1-4 Brazil

Date: 20 November 2018

Venue: Estadio Charrúa

Bantwana bowed out of the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup after losing 4-1 to Brazil in their final Group B encounter on Tuesday.

The South Africans came into the clash on the back of a 6-0 humbling at the hands of Japan over the weekend.

The opening 15 minutes proved to be quiet an open affair, with both goalkeepers being tested while Chelsea Daniels looked threatening for Bantwana upfront.

Bantwana started seeing a bit more of the ball as the first half went on, although clear-cut chances were hard to come by.

Five minutes before the break, South Africa carved out a chance when Khunjulwa Mali's cross found Karabo Dhlamini, who was denied by Maraya in the box.

However, Brazil came out firing in the second half and took the lead after 50 minutes thanks to a strike from Jheniffer.

The South Americans were then awarded a penalty a minute later following a foul from Miche Minnies, who was shown a  straight red card. Julia stepped up and converted the penalty.

Bantwana did manage to pull a goal back in the 53rd minute as Zethembiso Vilakazi rounded the goalkeeper to slot into an empty net.

However, Brazil restored their two-goal advantage a minute later, with Amanda registering her name on the score-sheet to make it 3-1.

It was 4-1 on the hour mark when Eduarda fired past past Kay-Dee Windvogel to compound Bantwana's woes with 30 minutes remaining.

Despite the flurry of goals in the opening 15 minutes of the half, both sides still went in search of more goals, although South Africa's Windvogel was the busier of the two goalkeepers.

In the end, neither side could bag another goal as Bantwana end their debut World Cup campaign without a win.
