SAFA President Danny Jordaan has explained what they seek to achieve after South Africa submitted a bid to host the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.
After becoming the first African country to host the FIFA World Cup in 2010, South Africa, through SAFA, have launched a bid to host the next Women's World Cup after the 2023 edition in Australia and New Zealand.

Jordaan says the reason they have submitted the bid is to challenge the narrative around women's football being valued much less than the men's game at the highest level, commercially.
"You must know it's a world wide problem that even at the level of FIFA and we had a lot of discussions with the FIFA president on this issue," Jordaan told journalists at the inaugural World Football Summit Africa held in Durban.
"And he said, 'Look, the broadcast revenue for women's football is 100 times less than for men's World Cup, commercial partners want to pay less, for some reason they think that a women's match is of a lesser value.
"That's why we must go there and contest these things and a World Cup for women in the African continent will just break all of those long held misconceptions about women football and women," he said.
Jordaan went on to confirm the countries they are bidding with including joint bids from European and Nordic countries and said they are up for the challenge.
"So we're in there, we're up against Germany, Belgium and Netherlands, they have a joint bid, the three countries, a massive challenge for us," he confirmed.
"The Nordic countries, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, they have one bid, the United States is also there with their bid, Chile is there and South Africa is the only one on the African continent.

We have the infrastructure, we have the stadiums, we have a good track record delivering this event, both on the field as well as commercially.
"So we will start next year but for now we focus on Qatar," he added.
South Africa were in the running for the 2023 tournament but pulled out.
