Result: Banyana Banyana 1-2 Netherlands
Date: 19 January 2019
Venue: Cape Town Stadium
Banyana Banyana continued their preparation for the FIFA World Cup with a 2-1 defeat to the Netherlands at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Both nations were using the encounter as preparation for the upcoming World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in France.
The visitors got off to the better start as Sherida Spitse found the back of the net after just two minutes with a neat finish.
Just as Desiree Ellis' charges started seeing more of the ball, the Dutch doubled the lead just before the 20-minute mark, with Miedema firing past Swartz.
However, Banyana managed to pull a goal back in the 33rd minute thanks to a strike from the newly crowned CAF Women's Player of the Year, Thembi Kgatlana.
The hosts had a chance to pull level on 62 minutes when Jermaine Seoposenwe was played through on goal, however the Bayana forward failed to capatilise.
Ellis opted for a change ten minutes later and withdrew Kgatlana for Rhoda Mulaudzi, who was making her first appearance for the side since 2017.
Banyana pushed for an equaliser in the remaining stages of the half, but they were unable to get the ball off the visitors.
In the end, the Dutch managed to hold on for the victory as Banyana now switch focus to their friendly against Sweden during the week.
