Desiree Ellis Has Spoken About Banyana's Final World Cup Warm-Up Game

Desiree Ellis has admitted that some of the goals Banyana Banyana conceded against Norway were 'really poor' after they were beaten 7-2 in their final World Cup warm-up game on Sunday.
The South African ladies didn't have the best of preparations for the game after a heavily delayed arrival at the stadium meant that the game kicked off over an hour later than intended, with Banyana having just half an hour between arriving at Stade Moulonguet and kick off, and they were ultimately outclassed by their opponents.

Norway, who are currently 12th in the FIFA women's rankings, didn't take long to find their rhythm, and were 5-0 up at the break before a bit of a rally by the 49th-ranked Banyana in the second 45.
Ellis, who is wary of their form going into this week's World Cup opener against Spain, told SAFA, "We had to do our task better, and some of the goals we conceded were really poor… You know, we spoke about what all the danger plays were going to be and we didn't pick them up, we were very loose at times - not picking up players, not tracking players. We could've done better.
"On the plus side, though, we scored two really good goals and had a couple of other opportunities as well. But we still need to look at ourselves.
"We spoke about minimising mistakes, and tonight there (were) many."

Banyana had a number of injuries, including captain Janine Van Wyk, for last night's encounter, however there is hope that they will have a fully fit squad once they get to matchday in Le Havre in June 8.
