Bantwana head coach Simphiwe Dludlu has lamented the short period of time she has had to prepare the U-17 Women's national team for the upcoming BRICS Tournament set to be played from July 15 to 23 in Johannesburg.
The former Banyana Banyana skipper and her charges assembled for camp just last week to prepare for the BRICS Tournament which forms part of Bantwana's preparations for the U-17 Women's World Cup in November.
"Look two weeks is never enough time to put a team together. It's been slow as the players are coming from writing exams so we are still working on our structure on our defence," said Dludlu.
"We not yet a well-oiled machine but the players are working hard. We will have to work within the short space of time given because as hosts we have to make sure that we represent ourselves well.
"Also playing against the U-15 boys team from Wits has helped us because it's helped the girls understand the importance of positioning. The objective of this game was to see if we are closing down the spaces and to analyse our tactical approach," she added.
The BRICS Tournament will see the U-17 Women's National teams of Brazil, Russia, India, and China descend to South Africa for the week-long tournament.
