Banyana Banyana recorded a 2-0 victory over Botswana in the first leg of their Africa Women's Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday afternoon.
There was not too much goal-mouth action to report on in the opening exchanges at the Lobatse Sports Complex. Although, Sannah Mollo did go close after the 20-minute mark.
The score remained goalless at the halftime break, but Vera Pauw's charges were dealt a blow 10 minutes into the second half, as Thembi Kgatlana picked up a knock and was forced off 10 minutes after being substituted on.
The breakthrough eventually arrived for the South Africans in the 69th minute courtesy of a strike from Sanah Mollo to clinch an important away goal.
Banyana managed to double their advantage in the 73rd minute, as Mollo slotted home for his second goal of the game.
Pauw's charges managed to see out the remaining stages of the second half to secure the first leg victory in Botswana.
The second leg will take place on Tuesday, 12 April 2016 at the Makhulong Stadium.
