The African Cup Of Nations Draw Takes Place Next Month

Bafana Bafana and Stuart Baxter have around two weeks to wait before finding out their opponents at the 2019 African Cup of Nations, with the draw date being set. Read: Baxter's Two Words To Describe This Bafana Squad… The 24 teams that will make the trip to Egypt in June were all confirmed over the weekend as the final games of the qualifiers took place around the continent, with Bafana booking their spot with a 2-1 win over Libya in Tunisia. It has been confirmed that Baxter's side will be in Pot 3 of the draw when it takes place on April 12, meaning that they will avoid Uganda, Guinea-Bissau, Angola, Burundi and neighbours, Zimbabwe but could face African giants such as Egypt, Cameroon and Senegal. The seedings were approved by the Organising Committee of the Africa Cup of Nations at their meeting on March 25, taking into account the performance of the qualified teams during 2013, 2015 and 2017 AFCON, 2015, 2017 and 2019 AFCON qualifiers and March 2019 FIFA world rankings. With April 12 just around the corner, Baxter will no doubt be looking at the options of who Bafana could face when the draw does take place, and his players will be itching to rub shoulders with the best that the continent has to offer when the tournament gets underway later in the year.
