Bafana Bafana's Kaizer Chiefs defender, Tefu Mashamaite, says that the lack of egos in Shakes Mashaba's team is one of the reasons for his current success.
Mashaba's men go into this week's clash with Nigeria knowing that they have already secured a place in the 2015 African Cup of Nations, but are aware of the fact that their hosts need to win to keep their fate in their own hands.
Bafana top Group A with 11 points after five games, winning three and drawing two, and have the rare luxury of playing the Super Eagles under no pressure.
When asked about South Africa's impressive form under Mashaba, and the final group game, the Amakhosi centre back told the media that they are completely focused on their own game.
Mashamaite said, "There are no egos in this squad, everyone wants to come into this team and do well, and I think that has been the secret of our qualification.
"I think a mistake that we can make is to think about the pressure that Nigeria are under, and what they're going to do to us, that will just create unnecessary pressure on ourselves. We need to just focus on ourselves and whatever Nigeria brings on the day, we have to be able to deal with it."
"Having a coach like Mr. Mashaba, he won't give you room to be lackadaisical, to allow us time to relax, we know that we've qualified but we want to get maximum points in order to measure ourselves against Nigeria, a powerhouse of Africa."
Bafana leave for Nigeria on a chartered flight later this afternoon as they prepare for Wednesday's game against Stephen Keshi's men in Uyo.
