Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng's name has been thrown in the mix as the debate on whether Gaston Sirino should be included in Bafana Bafana is ongoing.
In recent weeks, Sirino has been the topic in several discussions on social media as some feel that he should be included in Bafana as he qualifies on the basis that he has been in the country for more than five years, and that he has never played his country of birth of birth Uruguay at international level.

As one of the top players in the league, having done well with Mamelodi Sundowns when he first arrived in Mzansi in 2018 and now with Kaizer Chiefs in these early stages of the 2024/25 season, some in the fraternity feel Bafana could benefit from utilising the 33-year-old's services.
However, with some feeling that there is no need for Bafana to go that route as the team has appeared to be on the right track under Hugo Broos, former Chiefs and SA U23 star Junior Khanye believes that the focus should be on the talented young stars like Mofokeng instead.
"Still on the discussion that Sirino should be considered for inclusion in Bafana Bafana, and I want you to understand me well because I am not fighting here as the boy is one of the top players in the Betway Premiership and I like him so much, we should be talking about a player like Mofokeng instead. Sirino and Mofokeng are similar in the way they play and therefore that's the boy we should be talking about instead if we talk about development and we take it seriously. The boy is our own Sirino if I may put it that way," said Khanye, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.

With Themba Zwane out injured, Khanye believes that it could be the right time to give Rele a chance to prove his worth at the international stage.
"But we don't even play him (Mofokeng) regularly in the national team, and sometimes he doesn't even make an appearance for the entire match. When he comes on, he makes meaningful contribution. How many times has the boy proven himself that he is quality in a big team like Pirates? This boy isn't playing for a small club and it's not easy there besides him making it out to be with his quality performances week in and week out. This should be perfect time to use the boy more now that there's that gap with Mshishi (Themba Zwane) out injured. He is a properly developed young player and a very good investment for the country, and are we are sleeping on this special talent or what? For me, this is the time," concluded Khanye.
