Surprise names have surfaced for the vacant national u/20 job following SAFA's decision not to renew Thabo Senong's contract after the youth Fifa World Cup in Poland.
It has now emerged that the hunt for his permanent replacement, while the search for a Bafana Bafana coach also continues, has produced three very unexpected front runners.

The Siya crew has established that Duncan Crowie, Kwanele Kopo and WhiteyTshowa have been touted as Senong's potential successors.
As it stands, there is no timeline for the appointments to be made but these are the names of the men being considered.
Crowie is currently coach of the Ajax u/18 team and head of their Lambda Institute (football school) and it would take some convincing to lure him away from such a plum job and into one that is unpredictable and extremely difficult.
Kopo is also heavily involved in development as he is currently the head of youth at SuperSport United and doubles up as the assistant to David Notoane, the national team u/23 coach. And like the men he could be pitted against, Tshowa is also all about the youth – a background working at the famed School of Excellence and Kaizer Chiefs.
These are candidates with a heavy footprint in development and only time will tell how serious SAFA are about bringing any of them on board.
As likely that more front runners will emerge with time.
