Former Chiefs Midfielder In Support Of Bruce Bvuma's Bafana Selection

A former Kaizer Chiefs player is in support of Bruce Bvuma's selection to the South African senior national team for their upcoming match.

The 23-year-old Chiefs goalkeeper has been selected into coach Stuart Baxter's squad for their upcoming 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifying match which take place against Libya in Tunisia on March 24.

Although Baxter has explained that Bvuma has been selected to the squad as third-choice goalkeeper, there has been an outcry over the Amakhosi shot-stopper's selection. Some people have suggested that a player like Siyabonga Mbatha, who has been consistent for AmaZulu with his impressive performances this season, should have been picked ahead of Bvuma.

Former Chiefs midfielder, Ntokozo Sikhakhane, has lauded Bvuma's selection as a good sign for preparing for the future.

"Sometimes people have to understand one thing, that we must always think about the future. There is nothing we can do without the future. Bvuma is a young boy and he is doing well at the moment. He kept a clean-sheet for Chiefs in their most recent match. The boy's confidence is on a high and that's why he has also been called up for Bafana Bafana," Sikhakhane told the Siya crew.

Sikhakhane has explained why he is in support of Baxter's decision for not selecting Usuthu's current number one goalkeeper.

"I have nothing against Mbatha, but he is older (30). He can play one game now (for Bafana), but we won't know what will happen for him from next season and beyond. Bvuma is young and he is still growing and improving," added Sikhakhane.
