Bafana Bafana have failed to progress to the next round of 2020 CHAN qualifiers after losing 6-2 on aggregate to Lesotho.
After losing the first leg 3-2 last weekend, coach David Notoane added a little experience to the side with Nyiko Mobbie, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Paseka Mako brought in to the starting line up. Despite introduction of those senior players, Bafana had to wait until the 25 minute for a strike at goal as Kgodiso Monama forced Monaheng into a smart save. Unfortunately for the home side that proved to only real effort at the Lesotho goal in the opening stanza, which did not bode well for a side that needed a win. However, Bafana were made to pay for not getting an early goal as Lesotho took the lead four minutes after the break through Jane Ntso to make it 4-2 on aggregate. The visitors put the nail in the coffin 20 minutes later as Ntso completed his brace to make it 2-0 on the day and 5-2 on aggregate, seemingly ending Bafana's hopes. Lesotho were not done there as Hlompho Kalake got on the score-sheet late in the game as the visitors ran out 3-0 winners on the day and 6-2 on aggregate.
