Rivaldo Coetzee made a name for himself as a hard tackling centre back after his promotion to the first team at Ajax Cape Town. His performance in defence even won him a spot in the senior national team where he played ahead of more experienced campaigners.Upon his move to Mamelodi Sundowns, the talented youngster was converted to midfield where he normally partners captain Hlompo Kekana. Coetzee has been able to cement a regular starting berth at Masandawana and has impressed in his new position. Speaking to his club’s website, the gifted player said he was keen at first to change positions and had to adjust. “When I was told that I would play in that position I was not keen at first but as a player at a big club you must be able to adjust and after the first game I played in that position, I enjoyed it. It was challenging but I had people around me that made sure I prosper.
