UL Player Profile: Austin Thabani Dube
UL defender Austin Thabani Dube sees playing Varsity Football as the beginning of a journey he hopes will one day lead him to German giants Bayern Munich.      The highly confident Mpumalanga man remains focused on the task at hand though and reveals coach Burney Mampshika has been drilling UL's defenders hard in training this week.   "If I could sign and play for Bayern Munich that would be the highlight of my football career, but for now I will work hard to help my team succeed in the tournament. Our defence was not very good on Monday, so the coach is working us hard this week," he says.   UL have had a slow start to Varsity Football this season and are second from bottom of the standings after two matches with one point.   Dube believes it's still far too early to write UL off and believes the team will improve as the competition progresses.   "We've had a rough start, but we will be working on our mistakes in defence and getting the ball in the net. We've had good chances and there's still lots to come from us," he insists.   The man from Wesselton says if he makes it big one day he will help uplift his community in Ermelo by establishing a soccer academy for budding footballers.   The 21-year-old says that if he wasn't a footballer, he would be a hockey player. He is currently doing his studying Public Administration.   The Scorpio man from the coal province says that although he is studying for an honours degree, academics is not one of his favourite past times.
