Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila will have to put their Nedbank Cup triumph aside when they take on Maritzburg United this weekend according to their coach, Dylan Kerr.
Vhadau Vhadamani failed to capitalize on their morale-bosting Nedbank Cup triumph last weekend when they lost to a stuttering SuperSport United in midweek, putting a damper on the club's celebrations.
The Polokwane-based outfit still find themselves at the wrong end of the DStv Premiership table and currently sit in 15th position, six points adrift of bottom-placed Black Leopards.
Now, as they turn their focus to their must-win match against a Maritzburg side who have had struggles of their own this season, coach Kerr has warned his players of the dangers posed by the KZN outfit, who could take advantage of his side's 'cup hangover.'
"After a final, it's known well in football [that] when you win a cup final, the next game the expectations are very, very high – but the players need to match that expectation," Kerr told the media.
"But now we've got to solider on, we've got a big game on Saturday at Maritzburg, but these players have done really, really well. You've got to be proud of what they've done, but we've got to do better," the coach said.
A win for TTM at the Peter Mokaba Stadium will see them go level on points with the Team of Choice in 12th place, while a win for Maritzburg could see them go above Kaizer Chiefs into 10th.
The match kicks off tomorrow at 15:00.
There are just 8 match days left until the inaugural DStv Premiership champion is crowned!
