With the MTN8 just two days away, we look back at the last time Cape Town City and Mamelodi Sundowns met in the competition.
Back in 2018, the two sides clashed in a two-legged semi-final which saw the Citizens victorious.
Sundowns made a number of changes to their starting line-up in the first leg clash, giving opportunities to the likes of Kennedy Mweene, Lucky Mohomi, Anthony Laffor, Jose Ali Meza and Toni Silva.
This did not work in their favour as the Citizens won the first leg clash 1-0, thanks to a goal from key defender, Taariq Fielies. He struck in the second half and City were able to win the match and, more importantly, keep a clean sheet to take to Tshwane for the second leg.
Silva opened the scoring in the second leg just before the half hour mark but Sundowns were unable to increase the lead while City struggled to find the back of the net, so it had to be decided on penalties.

During the penalty shootout, City's spot kicks were converted by Nana Akosah-Bempah, Teko Modise, Matthew Rusike and Fielies.
Lebohang Maboe and Ali Meza converted from the spot for Sundowns, but Laffor and Silva were denied by Citizens goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh. City progressed to the final, where they played against SuperSport United.
Fielies was one of the key players when City knocked Sundowns out three years ago and he will have a huge role to play when the two sides meet in the final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday. Leeuwenburgh left City towards the end of last season, but new goalkeeper Hugo Marques has come in and is making a mark. Mduduzi Mdantsane and Thabo Nodada are also players to watch for City.
For Sundowns, Themba Zwane and Peter Shalulile are the biggest threats, while Lyle Lakay is in the form of his life, with many calling for him to be included in the Bafana Bafana squad.
