Sundowns Defender Harold Majadibodu Has Mixed Feelings Over Career

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Harold Majadobodu has revealed he has mixed emotions with how his career has gone, following the club's decision to loan him out again this season.

Majabodibodu joined GladAfrica Championship side University of Pretoria on loan for the season, after spending the second half of last term with the club. This is the fourth time he is loaned out by Sundowns, where he spent brief spells at Mthatha Bucks and Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs). Before he was sent out on loan to Tuks last season, Majadibodu made two senior team apperances in the Prmiership for Sundowns.

The 26-year-old, who joined Sundowns in 2015, admitted that he has had mixed emotions about his career.

"Honestly, I have mixed emotions when it comes to that, but I am positive. I might not be where I thought I would be, but I am happy with what I have achieved so far. I got to Sundowns in 2015. I played for M-Tigers (Sundowns reserve team) and from there I played for the MDC team and then I loaned out to Mthatha Bucks. Then I was loaned to Ajax Cape Town and I played under Muhsin Ertugral. That's where I played my best football, which is why I was not surprised that I was promoted to the Sundowns first team the following season," Majadibodu tells the Siya crew.

"When I went back to Sundowns, I did not play, which was a little bit disappointing. At times, you need to understand. I was competing with Anele Ngconca, may his soul rest in peace. I was competing with Thapelo Morena, who is one of the best in the country. There was also Nicholus Lukhubeni. Sometimes you need to be honest. Of course I want to play, but sometimes you need to face reality and look at what's in front of you and continue working hard."

Despite doing well whenever he has been loaned out, Majadibodu has never been able to secure a loan move to a topflight club and he admits that has been "despressing".

"For the past two years I have learnt that things won't go the way you always want them to. I have always believed that I can play in the Premier League, but it has been difficult. I don't even have answers. I has been difficult to get a team in the Premier League and sometimes it's depressing.

"I remember there was a night where I woke up and cried, asking myself what more do I need to do to get a breakthrough in the PSL (topflight). But at the same time, I have a very supportive family. It's painful sometimes, but I am positive my day will come. I am thankful to Tuks for taking me in. I am getting game-time now. As much as things might not be going as well as you'd like, you need to be grateful for where you are. I believe in God and I believe there is a reason I have not been able to play for any other team in the Premier League other than Sundowns. I don't know what it means, but some day I will have an answer. I am enjoying the journey at Tuks. I am going to give them everything."
