Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has explained why Happy Mashiane has not featured in the team this season.
The last competitive match Mashiane played for Amakhosi was back in July when he was sent off in the CAF Champions League final against Egyptian giants.
With Sifiso Hlanti and Sibusiso Mabiliso coming in as Amakhosi's new recruits this season, the 23-year-old Mashiane has found it difficult to get into Baxter's starting line-up, or even come off the bench.
Baxter explained why the Amakhosi product is yet to feature for the Soweto giants this term.
"He is doing very well. He is working very hard. The way we played this evening, Happy would probably be competing with Sifiso. As it was, we've got Mabiliso. We had enough attacking players on the field. We had Khama, Samir, Keagan, Lebo. At this moment, they are more versatile, they give us more flexibility than Happy," Baxter told media after his side's 2-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium on Sunday evening.
"Happy is working very hard and I am pleased with him. He's got to push on now and wait for his chance. When his chance comes, he has to take it."
