Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker claims the point gained against Kaizer Chiefs was massive after their 4-0 loss earlier in the season.
Stellies followed up their win over Cape Town City with a 1-1 draw against the Soweto giants at Orlando Stadium on Sunday night.
There were chances for the Western Cape side to clinch the victory, but Barker did not want to fault his charges after the positive result.
"I's a massive point for us seeing as the result in the first round between us was 4-0," Barker told SuperSport after the game..
"It's good reward for the hard work we've put in to now come here and get a point against the log leaders. I'm very proud of the effort, commitment and focus of the boys.
"It wasn't the best game out of football. There was a lot of direct play out there
"We had to try be nice and compact and then hopefully on transition we could punish them. Right at the end Ashley du Preez missed a great opportunity so it could have been different.
"We were just struggling to get the second. But at least we're scoring. That's the one positive. It would have been nice for us to get the second goal to take the pressure off.
"We were let ourselves down a bit with the goal. But I can't fault the effort.
"We were aware Nathan [Sinkala] was carrying a tight groin. We wanted to see that he could at least play one half today. Unfortunately he had to come off before half-time but at least we have till Friday for him to recover."
