Stellenbosch FC have found themselves dragged into the relegation dogfight ahead of this afternoon's fixture against Swallows FC away from home.
This comes after Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila's 1-0 win against Maritzburg United. The Mother City outfit is currently 14th on the DStv Premiership log, three points above Chippa United.
With TTM's fixture against Baroka in the Limpopo derby, and with Chippa hosting Bloemfontein Celtic at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium, Stellenbosch are aware that anything less than a victory at the Dobsonville Stadium could put the team at risk of dropping down on the standings.
Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker is aware that their situation demands that they get positive results in all their last three matches of the season.
"Obviously, Swallows have had a good season and as thus far they have done themselves really proud to be in the position they are (in). It's going to be a difficult game we all know they have only lost one game the whole season," said Barker, speaking through Stellenbosch's media department.
"However, we understand the importance of this fixture. We understand that there's few points to play for and the position that we are (in), is obviously very precarious. So, we are very mindful of our situation which demands a response each and every time we don't get a result that we work so hard to get. Our response has to be even greater," the coach added.
