Brazilian star striker Neymar is set to wear specially manufactured Nike 'HyperVenom Phantom' football boots during the Round of 16 match against Chile.
The design of his golden boots were created with a view to looking back at the Neymar's youthful days when as a 12-year-old he would use a spray can to paint his boots gold before every game.
The young Neymar dreamed of golden boots but he couldn't find them anywhere and at the end of each game the gold was off.
"When we met with Neymar he told us that when he was 12 he used to spray paint his boots gold," revealed Denis Dekovic, Nike Football Design Director.
"He said that he always wanted a pair of gold boots but the he couldn't find them anywhere.
"So we took that insight and decided this summer would be the perfect moment to create this boot for him."
Interestingly, the insoles include a drawing of a spray can next to a boot with reports indicating that this item retails for over R5 500.
"The biggest challenge was getting the gold tone perfect so it had the right spray-painted look," Dekovic added.
"We worked closely with Neymar to get it as close to how he remembered the color when he would apply it as a kid.
"We are delighted with the results and can't wait to see it on the pitch."
Fans will therefore be hoping that the 22-year-old can add to his world cup total of four goals when Brazil take on their South American rivals next Saturday in Belo Horizonte.
Neymar is currently leading the Golden Boot race with four goals ahead of Karim Benzema, Thomas Muller, Arjen Robben, Robin van Persie, James Rodriguez and Enner Valenica, who all sit on three goals.
