The week of a major cup final can come with a lot of nerves, so Soccer Laduma spoke to a few individuals to find out how they prepared for matches such as the upcoming MTN8.
Players of both Cape Town City and Mamelodi Sundowns probably have nothing else on their minds right now other than the cup final and players at times use different methods to ensure they are fully focused on the big event.
Lennox Bacela - former Bloemfontein Celtic and Orlando Pirates striker
"The one thing I always used to do is sleep with the boots that I was going to wear. I would put them under the bed, by my head. That's something I would always do when it came to cup finals. I would put them under the bed, by my head side."
Joseph Makhanya - former Pirates and Moroka Swallows winger
"You know you had to look the part, so the hairtstyle was important. If you are playing in a final, you wanted to have a hairstyle that people would remember you by. You want to look the part and it helps you with confidence. With the boots, I would never go with a new boot because you need to have a boot you can trust. You don't want boots that will give you blisters and all that."
Tefu Mashamaite - former Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United defender
"I used to take about 10 minutes before we went out to warm up and activate both my left and right brain. So, what I did was to block one nostril and breathe in through the other. Then breathe out and alternate. I did this for about 10 minutes. I learnt this technique from an Egyptian physician I knew. It's something I would do regularly."
The clash between City and Downs takes place at the Moses Mabhida stadium on Saturday at 18:00.
