Highlands Park co-director Larry Brookstone opens up on his position following the club sale

Highlands Park co-director Larry Brookstone opens up on his position following the club sale

Highlands Park co-owner and shareholder Larry Brookstone has shed some light on his current position after the sale of their top-flight status to TS Galaxy.

Highlands have been a topic of discussion for the last few weeks after the Siya crew broke the news that the club's PSL status has been sold to TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi, although the deal is yet to be ratified by the league.

The Siya crew also reported that minority shareholder Sinky Mnisi has opted for the legal route in opposing the sale of the club in which he owns a 20% stake.

The other shareholder, Larry Brookstone, has been linked to Moroka Swallows, where he was believed to be keen on joining the newly-promoted Birds' setup.

However, Brookstone has poured cold water over the rumours and maintained that he remains part of the Highlands Park fold.

"It's rubbish man, absolute nonsense, I don't even know anybody at Moroka Swallows," Brookstone told the Siya crew.

"We sold the team, I've got a massive football club here hey, Highlands Park are the biggest team in South Africa. We've got more teams than anybody. What are people talking about? I'm at work right now. I'm currently running a football club.

Brookstone confirmed that Highlands Park continues to exist, despite the club's PSL status being sold to Sukazi, who has indicated his plans to rename the club and relocate it to the Mpumalanga province.

"Highlands Park has been my club for 30 years. We sold the PSL franchise like I sold Silver Stars. The rubbish that comes out is beyond me hey. I'm 64-years-old, do you think I need a job? " Brookstone added.
