Argentina forward Gonzalo Higuain is one of an elite few players who have shared the dressing room with both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, but when asked to pick the three best forwards in the game today, he snubbed them both.
Ronaldo and Messi share 11 Ballon d'Or awards between them, and have consistently been among the highest scorers not only in their respective leagues and clubs, but across Europe.
Higuain played alongside Ronaldo during his time with Real Madrid, and also shares the pitch with Messi when on international duty for Argentina.
However, when discussing the best three forwards in the world today, he dismissed both superstars.
"Currently, for me, the best are (Robert) Lewandowski, (Erling) Haaland and (Karim) Benzema," he said, according to the Daily Mirror.
"Karim has been there for a long time, in the elite for 12 years.
"Lewandowski, where he played, scored and won. Haaland is a great promise, with a great future. He surprised me, he is a great striker."
