David Notoane's men crashed out of the competition on the weekend after losing their second Group A match, this time against France in a dramatic and entertaining seven-goal thriller.
Although the French have given themselves a chance of qualifying for the next stage of the tournament, Gignac, the experienced forward who struck three times on Sunday, admitted that it felt as if the South Africans were sending them home with each goal they scored.
"After each South African goal, it felt a little more like we were on the plane back," he said, according to The National News.
"We saw the joy after Teji's (Savanier) goal and we gave ourselves a final against Japan.
"With heart, we can do well. We don't want to return to France."
