The Red Devils did not manage to get their reported main target in Jadon Sancho, but had a busy final day of the window.
It was widely reported that left-back Alex Telles and forward Edinson Cavani would move to Old Trafford, and both deals were confirmed by the club.
Telles joined the English giants from FC Porto in a deal worth €15 million plus another €2 million in add-ons, as confirmed by the Portuguese side, while Cavani was signed on a free transfer.
The Uruguayan put pen to paper on a one-year deal with an option to extend by a further year, and Telles signed a four-year contract, which can also be extended by one more season.
However, United surprised many by announcing two more deadline-day signings.
They announced a deal in principle for 18-year-old Atalanta prospect Amad Diallo, who has been compared to Lionel Messi, before unveiling another transfer after the window had officially closed.
Diallo, though, will only join the club in January due to work permit issues and pending the completion of a medical as well as an agreement to personal terms.
Facundo Pellistri, meanwhile, was bought from Club Atletico Penarol, and signed a five-year deal, which includes an option to extend by another year.
The Uruguayan is just 18 years old but is a bright prospect, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told the club's official website.
"Our scouts have followed Facundo for a long time and we believe that he will be a real talent for the long term," the Norwegian said.
"Whilst we understand it will take time for him to adapt to the English game, he is capable of having an impact with his pace and ability to beat his opponent."
Pellistri was announced at 12:33am, after the official deadline, but clubs have a grace period of one hour to finalise all paperwork and United managed to register the starlet in time.
