After the drama of the round of 16, the quarter-finals did not disappoint as the world's number one ranked side Belgium were sent packing after losing to Italy on Friday evening.
Before Italy's surprise win over the Red Devils, Spain were taken to penalties by Switzerland and claimed a 4-3 win in the shoot-out to book a spot in the last four.
As a result, La Roja will meet Azzurri in the semi-finals as they look to advance to their first final since 2012 when they defeated Italy for their second title.
"I said from the beginning, we were one of the eight teams that we can win it, that it without exaggeration and now we are into the final four," Spain coach Luis Enrique said on Friday night, as per Marca.
