Chiefs Keeper Insists He Can Deliver

Chiefs Keeper Insists He Can Deliver

Bruce Bvuma has spoken about his readiness to step up, perhaps putting the Kaizer Chiefs fans at ease that there's a goalkeeper crisis for the remaining matches.

Amakhosi had to rely on the young keeper last week in the absence of veterans Itumeleng Khune (shoulder injury) and Daniel Akpeyi (concussion) in their away trip to TTM, a DStv Premiership clash they lost 2-1.

Despite the result, Bvuma did look sharp and in fact spared Chiefs some blushes with their opposition piling on the pressure.

He will be hoping to keep his place against Swallows on Wednesday night.

"Of course I am happy, I won't lie. I am happy that now I've been given a chance to play even though the results didn't come out the way we wanted, but I am happy for the opportunity," Bvuma told the media.

"I knew that if I can pray and wait on God, then he will answer my prayers. Here I am now playing and I am very grateful. When it comes to my readiness, I feel like I am prepared because I have been working very hard since I've been out of the team through the season with the goalkeeper coach (Lee Baxter) and the other goalkeepers. I believe that I am ready and every one of the goalkeepers here at the club, if they all get a chance to play, I believe that we can all perform because of the way we work. We are all ready for opportunities."

Chiefs desperately need to win their remaining four matches to break into the Top 8 and stay there or risk and unwanted record.

"I know we are not in a good position, but it's not like we are not working hard or giving it our all to be in a better position. We will get positive results and make sure we finish in a respectable position," said Bvuma.
