Former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez has lifted the lid on his transfer to crosstown rivals Manchester City in 2009.
Man Utd's Most Expensive Defenders Ever
Tevez had a successful spell at United, winning two Premier League titles and a Champions League crown, before moving to City, where he went on to win another league title and an FA Cup.
The Argentine's move to the Citizens did not sit well with former Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson and the club's supporters at the time, but Tevez has now revealed that United did not give him an option to stay.
"With Ferguson nothing happened, it was a normal relationship," he told Marca.
"I spent two years on loan at United (from third party owner Media Sports Investment), and Ferguson, in the last year, tells me they will buy the rights for me to stay.
"We reached the Champions League final in Rome and I had no contract on the table, although I had heard about it for a year.
"Then I went to City and they complained, but I had no offer to sign for Manchester (United), and I was free."

The 32-year-old forward made 99 appearances for the Old Trafford club, and scored 34 goals along the way.
