Both sides were involved in UEFA Champions League midweek, as Bayern thrashed Red Bull Salzburg 6-2 while Dortmund overcome Club Brugge in Belgium.
The Bavarians sit top of the Bundesliga due to their superior goal difference over Dortmund although they have both won their last four league matches each.
Bayern, meanwhile, have won the last three meetings between the two sides, which includes a 3-2 win in the German Super Cup in September this year.
The league's top scorer, Robert Lewandowski, will be looking to improve his record against his former side, having already scored 18 goals in 21 matches.
Following RB Leipzig's victory over Freiburg on Saturday afternoon, Bayern have dropped to second spot while Dortmund sit in third spot.
