Atletico Madrid have reportedly told FC Barcelona they are not interested in getting one of their former stars back.
According to Marca, the Blaugrana were looking at the potential of signing Joao Felix from their LaLiga rivals, and aimed to use Antoine Griezmann as bait.
The France forward left Atletico under a cloud last season when Barca activated his €120 million (R2.39 billion) release clause.
However, after a difficult campaign that has now coincided with dramatic overhaul at Barca, it seems the Frenchman's future may not be as certain as once claimed.
New manager Ronald Koeman has already insisted he would use Griezmann in his best position instead of on the wing.
This does not seem to have been the only issue, though, with reports also suggesting that the Les Bleus forward's relationship with Lionel Messi is mixed.
The Argentine is at the centre of a transfer storm himself, and Griezmann's direct future could potentially be linked to whether or not the Argentine leaves Camp Nou.
Felix was roped in after Griezmann left Atletico for a club-record €126 million (R2.51 billion), and has struggled to settle in Madrid.
