Ghana coach, Avram Grant, believes that a collective performance is crucial for Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
Algeria Won't 'Disrespect Bafana'
Grant, who took Chelsea to a Champions League final, says he has learnt a lot in his few weeks in charge of the Black Stars and insists that individual performances won't take them to the African crown.
"I have a group of very willing players who look at the collective instead of themselves," he said, according to the Guardian.
"They understand the need to lower their individual goals for the sake of the team and that is what I want."
The 59-year-old says coaching is very much like fathering a child, and thinks once you get to know the players well enough, they will understand the goals more clearly.
"Coaching is like fatherhood, after doing it for a long time, you notice patterns," he added.
"One of the reasons I chose 31 players initially, before selecting 26 and then 23, was that I needed to establish those who understood the need for the team to win first."
Ghana take on Senegal in the opening game of Group C later on today, and face Bafana on 27 January.
