Cristiano Ronaldo showed his class by bagging two goals and an assist as Real Madrid crushed Serie A leaders Juventus 3-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final.
Zinedine Zidane named the same starting line-up that thrashed Juve in last season's final, meaning Gareth Bale had to settle for a spot on the bench.
The decision to start Isco over Bale paid off as the former was instrumental in the opening goal by picking out Ronaldo, who poked the ball beyond Gianluigi Buffon after just three minutes.
Juve eventually grew into the game, but they had to wait until the 22nd minute for a clear-cut opening, with Keylor Navas producing a fine reflex save to deny Gonzalo Higuain from six-yards out.
Real went close to bagging a second goal after 35 minutes as Toni Kroos rattled the crossbar with a stinging effort from distance that had Buffon well beaten.
This attempt proved to be the final chance of the half as Los Blancos took a slender lead into the break.
The home side looked lively in the opening 10 minutes of the second half, with Paulo Dybala at the heart of all the attacks.
Real, however, doubled their lead on 64 minutes thanks to Ronaldo, who found the back of the net with a stunning bicycle-kick, 0-2.
A minute later, the hosts were reduced to 10 men when Dybala sent off after picking up a second yellow card.
Los Blancos' third goal arrived with 20 minutes remaining as Marcelo played a neat one-two with Ronaldo before rounding Buffon to tap into an empty net.
Zidane withdrew Luka Modric in the 80th minute, with Mateo Kovacic coming on for the final 10 minutes.
In the end, 3-0 was how the score ended as the reigning champions take a commanding leaf into the second leg.
