UEFA Champions League

Result: Bayern Munich 4-2 Juventus

Date: 16 March 2016

Venue: Allianz Arena

Bayern Munich came from two goals down on the night to run out 4-2 winners over Juventus following 120 minutes of footballing action in a UEFA Champions League, second leg, round of 16 match at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.

Regular time ended 2-2 before two goals in extra time saw Bayern progress to the quarterfinals of the cup competition 6-4 on aggregate.

It was the perfect start for the visitors who were gifted a goal in the fifth minute after a poor clearance by Manuel Neuer fell straight to Paul Pogba and he made no mistake with a clinical finish from the edge of the box, 1-0 (3-2 on aggregate).

Juventus thought they had doubled their lead in the 23rd minute when Alvaro Morata found the back of the net, but his goal was disallowed as he was adjudged to be off-sides.

Five minutes later the Italian side did find their second goal when Morata played Juan Cuadrado into space just inside the box and he calmly curled the ball home from 16-yards out, 2-0 (4-2 on aggregate).

A minute before the break Cuadrado came close to scoring Juventus' third on the night, but he was superbly denied in a one-on-one with Neuer.

The half ended 2-0 in favour of Juventus on the night.

The visitors should have put the result beyond doubt ten minutes into the second half when Morata worked his way into the box, but failed to beat Neuer from close range.

Juventus were made to pay for their misses when Robert Lewandowski pulled a goal back for the German outfit in the 73rd minute after heading home a right-wing cross from Douglas Costa, 2-1 (4-3 on aggregate).

In the dying seconds of regular time Thomas Muller equalised for Bayern when he headed home a cross from Kingsley Coman to send the match into 30 minutes of extra time.

It was 2-2 (4-4 on aggregate) at the end of 90 minutes.

Bayern took control of the match in extra time and while they did not find the back of the net in the first half of additional time, Thiago Alcantara did score in the 108th minute to hand the Germans the lead, 3-2 (5-4 on aggregate).

Bayern made certain of the win in the 110th minute after a quick counter-attack concluded with Kingsley Coman scoring his side's fourth on the night, 4-2 (6-4 on aggregate).
