Ahead of the Reds' 0-0 draw with Zinedine Zidane's Los Blancos on Wednesday, the away side's bus was seemingly attacked on its way to Liverpool's famous ground.
It is claimed that hundreds of fans awaited the team coaches' arrival, although it appeared that the Spanish side's bus was not all that welcome as Liverpool staff were seen cleaning up the damage done to it after the team had disembarked.
According to the Evening Standard, one pane of a double-glazed window had been smashed by an unknown object, with a Liverpool spokesperson saying: "We condemn unequivocally the actions that led to Real Madrid's team bus being damaged during its arrival to Anfield this evening.
"It is totally unacceptable and shameful behaviour of a few individuals. We sincerely apologise to our visitors for any distress caused.
"We will work together with Merseyside Police to establish the facts and identify those responsible."
It was also confirmed by a member of Merseyside Police that an investigation into the matter had been opened.
