The Citizens made history by reaching their first UEFA Champions League final with a 2-0 victory over PSG at the Etihad this week.
Mahrez was the star on the night after bagging a brace, but the match was also a somewhat heated affair, with Les Parisiens finishing the game with 10 men following Angel Di Maria's red card for stamping on Fernandinho.
"It was a very good game. We didn't start well again – we didn't have a good first half, but we got the goal and we were more comfortable," Mahrez told BT Sport.
"We played well second half and we could have scored more. They lost their nerve and started to kick us and after the red card it was more comfortable.
"Everybody has to be solid defensively and that's why we [reached the final]. We didn't concede much and I think that's why we're in the final. It's good."
The Citizens will look to continue their celebrations with a win over Chelsea on the coming weekend as they look to wrap up the Premier League title.
"We have another game on Saturday," Mahrez added.
"We need to win to be league champions and then we'll concentrate on the Champions League final."
