Manchester City star Kevin de Bruyne has revealed the chat he had he with Riyad Mahrez before the Algerian scored the free-kick against Paris Saint-Germain.
The Citizens are 90 minutes away from their first-ever UEFA Champions League final after defeating PSG 2-1 in Paris in the first leg on Wednesday evening.
The Belgian looked set to take the free-kick as he is the club's main set-piece taker but he allowed Mahrez to step up, which proved to be the right decision.
"He asked me if he could take it and I said 'if you believe in yourself take it," De Bruyne told BT Sport, as per the Sun.
"He scored the goal so who am I to say something about that?
"It's set up in the perfect position. It's difficult for the keeper because he always expects somebody to touch it."
The Citizens will now host Mauricio Pochettino at the Etihad for the second leg on Tuesday night.
