Serie A
Result: Napoli 0-0 AC Milan
Date: 26 January 2019
Venue: Stadio Giuseppe Meazza
Napoli's Serie A title hopes took a dent after dropping points against AC Milan at the San Siro on Saturday evening.
Napoli were eyeing nothing but three points as they look to close the gap on Juventus, who are only in action on Sunday evening while Milan were aiming to cement fourth spot.
The visitors nearly broke the deadlock after 15 minutes after Lorenzo Insigne surged forward before cutting inside to shoot, but his effort sailed inches wide of the upright.
It was an evenly contested affair for most of the half, although most of the chances fell to Carlo Ancelotti's men, with Piotr Zielinski going close with left-footed strike on 36 minutes.
Milan went close to pulling ahead five minutes before the break as Suso did well to pick out Lucas Paqueta, who took a touch before firing inches wide of the upright.
The away side came out firing in the second half as the likes of Arkadiusz Milik and Zielinski forced Gianluigi Donnarumma into a couple fine saves after the hour mark.
Gennaro Guttuso responded with a change on 72 minutes as new signing Krzysztof Piatek came on for Patrick Cutrone as the hosts pushed for a winner.
David Ospina came to Napoli's rescue with 12 minutes remaining, as the man on-loan from Arsenal showed quick reflexes to keep out Mateo Musacchio's close-range effort.
Napoli were reduced to ten men in second-half stoppage time as Fabian Ruiz received his second yellow card after an apparent handball.
However, that was the last bit of action in the second half as the sides settled for a share of the spoils.
