Serie A
Report: Lazio 1-2 Juventus
Date: 27 January 2019
Venue: Stadio Olimpico
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a late penalty as Juventus defeated Lazio to move 11 points clear of second-place Napoli on Sunday evening.
Allegri made three changes from the side's last encounter as Wojciech Szczesny, Leonardo Bonucci and Rodrigo Bentancur were drafted back into the line-up.
It took a while for the defending champions to get going as Lazio surprisingly took control from the onset as they pushed for an early goal.
The home side were unable to turn their dominance into goals as Szczesny pulled off a couple key saves to deny Joaquin Correa and Luis Alberto.
Juve's frustrating half was capped off by seeing Bonucci limp off after 40 minutes after the Italian failed to recover from a knock he picked up earlier in the game.
It was one-way traffic in the opening half, but the Old Lady had Daniele Rugani to thank for keeping the scores level at the break after the defender cleared Ciro Immobile's goal-bound effort.
Afer a lively start to the second half, Lazio got the breakthrough goal on the hour mark when Emre Can unfortunately deflected Basto's near post flick-on into his own net.
Allegri responded with a change on 70 minutes as Douglas Costa made way for full-back Joao Cancelo as the hosts looked for a way back into the clash.
The change paid off for the visitors as Cancelo brought his side level three minutes after his introduction with a composed finish into the far corner.
With four minutes remaining, Juventus were awarded a penalty when Cancelo was brought down by Senad Lulic. Ronaldo, who had been quiet, stepped up and converted the spot-kick to secure the winning goal.
