Serie A

Result: Juventus 2-0 SPAL

Date: 24 November 2018

Venue: Juventus Stadium

Cristiano Ronaldo was on target yet again for Juventus, who maintained their unbeaten run in Serie A with a 2-0 win over SPAL on Saturday evening.

Juventus could not quite get their passing rhythm right in the opening ten minutes, which gave the visitors quite a bit confidence on the ball.

However, the Bianconeri started to get into the attacking mood after 20 minutes as they threatened to grab the lead.

Ronaldo found the opening goal for Massimiliano Allegri's charges in the 28th minute after running into the box and turning home a free-kick from Miralem Pjanic.

SPAL were not discouraged ten minutes before the break and were knocking the ball around nicely but they lacked the final product.

Leonardo Semplici's troops could not penetrate the Juventus defence and went into the break 1-0 down.

The Bianconeri were turning up the heat early in the second stanza and Douglas Costa was unlucky not to make it 2-0 six minutes after the break with a strike that crashed against the crossbar.

Mario Mandzukic eventually doubled the lead for the hosts on the hour-mark with a close range finish after SPAL goalkeeper Alfred Gomis parried Costa's strike into the Croat's path.

Ronaldo nearly got his brace and a third goal for Juventus 20 minutes before time with a thunderous effort that was saved by Gomis.

With five minutes remaining, Juan Cuadrado had a chance to make it 3-0 for Juventusafter being picked out unmarked at the back post but he fired his effort over the bar.

The hosts were cruising in latter stages of the half and although they had chances to get the third goal, two were enough as they strolled to victory.
