Serie A
Result: AC Milan 0-2 Juventus
Date: 11 November 2018
Venue: San Siro
Cristiano Ronaldo moved up to eight goals in Serie A this season after helping Juventus defeat AC Milan 2-0 at the San Siro on Sunday evening.
Mario Mandzukic grabbed the lead for the Bianconeri as early as the eighth minute with a powerful header at the back post.
Despite the early goal, neither side took full control of the game in the opening 20 minutes, with most of the openings coming from set-pieces.
Massimiliano Allegri's charges were tactically disciplined towards the end of the first stanza, allowing Milan to have the ball but not in the areas they could pose danger.
Gennaro Gattuso's troops were handed a lifeline four minutes before the break as the referee spotted a handball inside the box by Medhi Benatia and gave Milan a penalty after consulting with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
However, Gonzalo Higuain could not capitalise as he missed from the penalty spot, as his spot kick was saved by Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
The Bianconeri went into the halftime break with their heads held high leading Milan by an odd goal.
Paulo Dybala came close to giving the visitors a 2-0 lead ten minutes into the second stanza with a curling free-kick from just outside the box that crashed against the post.
Ronaldo had a chance to double the lead for Juventus 22 minutes before time after bursting into the box with pace and unleashing a low strike that was saved by Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Ronaldo was not to be denied in the 81st minute as got the second goal for Bianconeri, reacting the quickest inside the box to tap home after the Milan goalkeeper parried Joao Cancelo's initial strike into his path, 0-2.
Things went from bad to worse for the Rossoneri as Higuain was sent off six minutes before time for receiving two yellow cards in quick succession.
There was no coming back for Milan as Juventus were comfortable in the end to clinch the three points.
