According to reports, Romelu Lukaku is desperate to leave Chelsea and is even willing to "get on his knees" in order to force a move away.
Lewandowski 'Signs Deal' With Spanish Giants?
The striker was heralded as the missing piece to a potential Premier League title challenge for Thomas Tuchel's men when the Blues signed him from Inter Milan for a club-record fee of €113 million (R1.8 billion) at the beginning of the 2021/22 campaign.
The move did not yield the results originally desired, however, with the Belgian finding the back of the net just 15 times in 44 appearances across all competitions last season.
This was a stark contrast to the 30 goals he scored in the same number of games for the Nerazzurri the season prior, and it is perhaps no surprise that the 29-year-old is now eager for a return to the San Siro.
As per Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku wants to return to his former club in this transfer window. He has spoken of his desire to return to the Italian capital before, most notoriously during a Sky Italia interview at the end of 2021.
Now, the former Anderlecht man "doesn't want to consider another solution other than Inter, at least for the next two weeks", or "at least until he gets on his knees in front of the Blues to free him".
The same report claims Inter boss Simeone Inzaghi is also eagerly anticipating Lukaku's potential return, but because Chelsea paid so much for his services, the London club will be hoping to recoup a large sum of that money.
It has been suggested that a loan deal could be likely, but it would be one that would require the Serie A side to pay at least €25 million (R418 million) up front.
Here are some transfers that have already been confirmed for the 2022/23 season:
