Having recently returned to Inter Milan, Romelu Lukaku has expressed his desire to silence his critics following his tragic Chelsea homecoming last season.
Expectations for Belgium's all-time top goalscorer were high when he made a club-record move to the Blues at the beginning of the 2021/22 season. However, the 29-year-old failed to fulfil them, managing to find the back of the net just eight times in 25 Premier League appearances.
While he started the season relatively well, his form began to wane towards the end of 2021 and it was during this time that the Belgium native put a strain on his relationship with Chelsea supporters with an explosive mid-season interview in which he admitted his desire to return to Inter.
The former Manchester United forward got his dream move back to the Italian capital, albeit on loan, in this window, where he plans to put his dreadful season at Stamford Bridge behind him and recapture his best form.
"The season at Chelsea gave me extra motivation to do even better than before. I think, in a year, people have forgotten what I can do on the pitch. This is a kind of anger that I have inside of me," the striker told DAZN Italia.

The Belgium international also stated that he is more concerned about winning collective titles rather than individual ones.
"I don't care about the top scorers, I only think about the Scudetto. We are at Inter, here we play for the Scudetto, not for individual trophies," he added.
Lukaku went on to further elaborate why he left the Nerazzurri in the first place and what the future holds for him as far as his Chelsea career is concerned.

"When I left, I had in mind to get a rematch with Chelsea. When I was young I was at Chelsea for 11 years and I wanted to come back to be a protagonist," he explained.
"After the last game I started thinking about what the best situation was for me.
"The season for me at Chelsea was difficult and I think things would not improve in the future and so I decided to come back here."
