Romelu Lukaku has spoken ahead of his imminent exit from Chelsea, having arrived at his new club for a medical.
Last year, Lukaku became Chelsea's most expensive-ever signing when he cost the west London side €113 million (R1.9 billion) as he rejoined them from Inter Milan.
In a prolific 2020/21 campaign in the Italian top flight, the forward found the back of the net 30 times to help the Nerazzurri win their first Scudetto title in 11 years.
That catapulted him to being among the elite forwards in European football, and the Blues footed the bill in order to bring Belgium's all-time top goalscorer back to Stamford Bridge for a second stint.
Although things went relatively well during his first few games back in London, things turned sour quickly as Lukaku went on a 13-league game goal drought.
This lack of goals was followed by the forward giving a controversial interview to Sky Italia, in which he expressed his displeasure with Thomas Tuchel's tactics and made his desire to return to the San Siro known.
Now, the 29-year-old has all but had his wish come true. Reports suggest that Chelsea and Inter have struck a deal worth £6.9 million (R135 million) for a season-long loan deal that will see Lukaku once again be a Nerazzurri player.
The forward arrived in the Italian capital on Wednesday morning to complete a medical, and expressed his pleasure at returning to the club where he was once so successful.
"I'm too happy to be here," he said, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The former Anderlecht man will be looking to help Inter reclaim their Scudetto crown from eternal rivals AC Milan after the Rossoneri pipped the 2009/10 treble winners to last season's Serie A title.
